Instant Shahi Modak
This is simple yet a delicious type of Modak. The best part about this recipe is that your Modak will be ready within 5 minutes, without much efforts. This recipe is made using Edible Camphor (Medicated Camphor) which is really good for health as it used in making a lot of Ayurvedic medicines.
What you'll need:- Milk Powder - ½ cup
- Paneer (grated) - 100 grams
- Sugar - 3 tbsp
- Milk Cream (Malai) - 1 tbsp
- Kesar Strands - 15 to 20
- Almond (Badam) Pieces - 1 tsp
- Desiccated Coconut - 3 to 4 tbsp
- Cardamom Powder (Green Elaichi Powder) - ½ tsp
- Edible Camphor (Medicated Camphor) - Less than a pinch
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
How to make?- Firstly, take a pan & mix Milk Powder, grated Paneer, Sugar & Milk Cream (Malai).
- Now, place this pan on low flame. Let it cook & keep stirring continuously otherwise Milk powder will stick to the bottom of the pan.
- After 2 to 3 minutes, add 5 to 7 strands of Kesar soaked in Milk.
- At this stage, if you want, you can add 1 tsp Cashew Nut Powder (Kaju Powder) or Almond Powder (Badam Powder). I haven't added this while making Modaks.
- Keep cooking the above mixture continuously till the oil separates or till the mixture dries.
- Then, add Desiccated Coconut & mix well so that everything blends well (Tip: Make sure that you add Desiccated Coconut at the end. If you add it at the beginning itself, you'll only get the taste of Coconut).
- Now, add Elaichi Powder to the mixture & stir.
- Then, add Ghee, Edible Camphor (Medicated Camphor) & Almond Pieces, mix everything well & put off the flame.
- Then, remove this mixture in a plate & let it cool at room temperature (Tip: If the mixture becomes too dry, you can add 1 to 2 spoons of Milk & adjust the consistency accordingly).
- When the mixture cools down completely, make Modaks using the Modak mould.
- Then, garnish your Modaks with Kesar strands as shown in the picture above.
- Finally, your Shahi Modak is ready to be presented to your favourite Lord Ganesha.
*Makes 12-15 pieces of normal size
