Stuffed Leftover Masala Roti
This is a Sindhi Special recipe, which is called "Seyal Phulka" in Sindhi. Sindhis usually have this for breakfast. It not only tastes delicious but also takes care that the leftover food doesn't go waste as it is mainly prepared by using leftover Rotis/Chapatis. We all have times when there is excess food & we don't want it to go waste so why not use this recipe & never let your excess Rotis/Chapatis go waste.
What you'll need:- Leftover Rotis - 5 (Tip: You can use freshly prepared Rotis too, in case you are short of leftover Rotis)
For Stuffing -- Oil - 2 to 3 tbsp
- Garlic Flakes - 6 to 7
- Ginger - 1 inch piece
- Green Chillies - 2
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Jeera - 1 tsp
- Finely chopped Onion - 1 big
- Tomato Puree of 2 big Tomatoes
- Red Chilly powder - 1tsp
- Turmeric (Haldi) powder - 1tsp
- Dry Coriander powder - 2 tsp
- Salt - As per taste
- Water - ¼ cup
For Garnishing -- Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp
How to make?- Firstly, make Garlic Ginger & Green Chilly paste & Keep it aside.
- Now, heat Oil in a pan, add above prepared Ginger Garlic paste & Mustard Seeds & let it crackle.
- Now, add Jeera to it & let it crackle.
- Now, add finely chopped Onion and saute it for 2 to 3 minutes or till transparent.
- Now, add Tomato Puree to it & add Salt over this mixture & mix it properly & cook till Tomatoes become soft & tender.
- Now, add remaining spices Red Chilly powder, Turmeric (Haldi) Powder & Dry Coriander Powder, mix everything well, lower the flame, keep a lid & let it cook for 5 more minutes.
- Now, your stuffing is ready, transfer half of the stuffing in a bowl & let half of the stuffing remain in the pan.
- Now, take one Roti & spread stuffing evenly all over it & fold the Roti in half. Then, again spread stuffing evenly all over the half Roti & fold again so that you can only see ¼ part of the Roti (As shown in the picture). Similarly, prepare all remaining Rotis & keep them aside.
- Now, heat the pan with the remaining stuffing. Put all the stuffed Rotis in this pan. Let it cook for 2 minutes on medium to high flame. Flip the Rotis & let them cook from other side also for 2 minutes on medium to high flame.
- Finally, your Stuffed Leftover Masala Rotis are ready to be garnished with Coriander Leaves & served hot.
