Upma (Suji) Premix

What you'll need:

  1. Oil - 1 tbsp
  2. Cumin Seeds (Jeera) - ½ tsp
  3. Mustard Seeds (Rai) - ½ tsp
  4. Curry Leaves - 8 to 10
  5. Green Chilly - 1 or as per requirement
  6. Ginger (Adrak) - 1 inch piece
  7. Peanuts - 1 tbsp
  8. Onion - 1
  9. Semolina (Suji/Rawa) - ½ cup
  10. Salt - As per taste
  11. Dry Coriander Leaves - 2 tsp
  12. Chilly Flakes - ½ tsp
  13. Lemon Juice - 2 tsp
  14. Sugar - As per requirement

How to make?

  • Firstly, heat a pan, dry roast Semolina (Suji/Rawa) for 2-3 minutes on low to medium flame, transfer this into a bowl & keep it aside.
  • Then, add above mentioned ingredients from 1-8 in a pan & saute for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
  • Now, add roasted Semolina (Suji/Rawa) in the pan.
  • Now, mix everything well.
  • Then, add Dry Coriander Leaves, Salt, Chilly Flakes & Lemon Juice to the above mixture & mix well to break the lumps.
  • Then, add Sugar & mix well. 
  • Finally, your Upma (Suji) Premix is ready to be stored in an airtight container for 8 days at room temperature & 1-2 months in fridge.

 For Upma Preparation - 

  • Firstly, take the above Premix in a bowl, add 1-1.5 cups boiled water in it, cover it with a lid & keep it aside for 15 minutes (Tip: Always use water more than double the quantity of Semolina).
  • Finally, your Upma (Suji) is ready to be served.
