How to make?

  • Firstly, prepare the outer layer with the above mentioned outer layer ingredients by adding milk slowly & make a soft dough like chapati dough.
  • Now, make small 1 inch diameter smooth balls with no cracks & keep it aside.
  • Now, prepare stuffing by mixing stuffing ingredients mentioned above.
  • Now, prepare Sugar Syrup with the above mentioned Sugar Syrup ingredients except Lemon Juice, simmer for 4 minutes. Then, add Lemon Juice, cover it with a lid, cook for a minute & keep it aside.
  • Now, heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
  • Now, its time to prepare Modak, grease the Modak mould and take 1 ball of outer layer and insert it inside Modak mould to cover all sides & leaving space in between for the stuffing. Add the stuffing in between, again put a small portion of outer layer over the stuffing so that the stuffing doesn't come out.
  • Now, take out Modak from mould & similarly, all other Modaks.
  • Now, deep fry all the Modaks in medium hot oil/ghee, stirring continuously on a low flame till golden brown.
  • Now, transfer all these Modaks in Sugar Syrup, stir continuously & bring it to a boil. Now, turn off the flame & let these Modaks rest in the Sugar Syrup for 1-2 hours.
  • Finally, your Modaks are ready to be presented to your beloved Lord Ganesha.
