Gulab Jamun Modak (Ganpati Special)
What you'll need: For Outer Layer -- Bread - 6 slices
- Milk Powder - 2 tbsp
- Milk Cream - 1 tbsp
- Milk - As required
For Sugar Syrup -- Sugar - 1 cup
- Water - 1 cup
- Cardamom (Green Elaichi) - ¼ tsp
- Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
For Stuffing -- Paneer - 50 grams
- Mawa - 50 grams
- Powdered Sugar - As required
- Green Elaichi Pots (Dana) - ¼ tsp
- Gulkhand - 1 tsp
- Finely chopped mixed Nuts - 1 tbsp
How to make?- Firstly, prepare the outer layer with the above mentioned outer layer ingredients by adding milk slowly & make a soft dough like chapati dough.
- Now, make small 1 inch diameter smooth balls with no cracks & keep it aside.
- Now, prepare stuffing by mixing stuffing ingredients mentioned above.
- Now, prepare Sugar Syrup with the above mentioned Sugar Syrup ingredients except Lemon Juice, simmer for 4 minutes. Then, add Lemon Juice, cover it with a lid, cook for a minute & keep it aside.
- Now, heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
- Now, its time to prepare Modak, grease the Modak mould and take 1 ball of outer layer and insert it inside Modak mould to cover all sides & leaving space in between for the stuffing. Add the stuffing in between, again put a small portion of outer layer over the stuffing so that the stuffing doesn't come out.
- Now, take out Modak from mould & similarly, all other Modaks.
- Now, deep fry all the Modaks in medium hot oil/ghee, stirring continuously on a low flame till golden brown.
- Now, transfer all these Modaks in Sugar Syrup, stir continuously & bring it to a boil. Now, turn off the flame & let these Modaks rest in the Sugar Syrup for 1-2 hours.
- Finally, your Modaks are ready to be presented to your beloved Lord Ganesha.
