Colourful Mawa Barfi (Raksha Bandhan Special)

What you'll need:

  2. Sugar - 1 cup
  3. Food Colours - 3 (As per choice)
  4. Rose Essence/Rose Water - 2 to 3 drops (Tip: Alternatively, you can use 1/4 tsp Elaichi Powder)

How to make?

  • Heat a pan keeping the flame low & add mawa in it and  stir for 2 minutes .
  • Now, add sugar to it and stir continuously till sugar melts and the mixture thickens.
  • Now, take a small portion of the mixture in your finger tips and check if you can make a ball out of it without the mixture sticking on your fingers. Once you can make a small ball out it, your mixture is ready. At this stage, add Rose Essence/Rose Water/Elaichi Powder in the mixture.
  • Now, divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Keep 1 white portion aside and add 3 Food Colours in the remaining 3 portions & mix well.
  • Now, take a rolling pin and board (Chakla Belan) and roll all the 4 portions in an oval shape (oval shaped rotis).
  • Then, take white oval portion, place all the 3 remaining colourful portions one above the other one above the other.
  • Now, make a roll using your hands.
  • Let the roll dry for 1 to 1.5 hours. (Tip: In case you don't have 1 hour, you can refrigerate this roll for 15-20 minutes)
  • Now, cut the roll as shown in the above picture or in any other shape of choice.
  • Your Colourful Mawa Barfi is all ready to be enjoyed!
