Parwal Ki Mithai (Pointed Gourd sweet)

Parwal is a vegetable available in India during summers. It's not only tasty but also very healthy and nutritious. It improves digestion, purifies blood, fights flu, aids weights loss, treats constipation, fights with aging factors. It is also rich in Vitamin C & anti-oxidants.

What You'll Need:

  1. Parwal - 10 or 11 (or as per choice)
  2. Water - 2 glasses
  3. Baking Soda - ½ tsp

 For Sugar Syrup:

  1. Sugar - 1 cup
  2. Water - ½ cup
  3. Elaichi Powder - ½ tsp (or any other flavour of choice)

 For Stuffing:

  1. Mawa - 1 cup / 250 gms (To know how to make Homemade Mawa in 3 minutes, click here -  https://tastytreatsbyvarsha.blogspot.com/2020/06/homemade-mawakhoya-in-3-minutes.html )
  2. Powdered Sugar - As per taste
  3. For flavour - Elaichi Powder / Vanilla Essence / Rose Essence / Kesar strands

 For Garnishing:

  1. Tutti Frutti / Dry Fruits / Silver Leaf (Varak) / Red Jelly

How to make?

  • Remove skin of Parwal, give it a cut in centre lengthwise so that a boat shape is formed (keeping the down part of Parwal intact). Then remove all the seeds from it.
  • Now boil 2 glasses of water. Put ½ tsp soda in the water to retain the green colour of Parwal & then immerse Parwal in it. Keep a lid on it & boil for 3 minutes.
  • Now, take out Parwal in a plate & squeeze excess water from it by pressing it slightly but make sure to not press it hard otherwise it will break.
  • Then, make 1 thread Sugar Syrup with above mentioned ingredients, put Parwal in it & boil for 2 minutes. Put off the flame & keep Parwal in this syrup for ½ an hour.
  • Now it's the time for stuffing. Roast Mawa (To know how to make Homemade Mawa in 3 minutes, click here -  https://tastytreatsbyvarsha.blogspot.com/2020/06/homemade-mawakhoya-in-3-minutes.html ) a little then add Powdered Sugar & Elaichi Powder as per your taste.
  • Remove Parwal from Sugar Sugar & press it slightly to remove excess Sugar Syrup from it. Cool the Mawa & stuff it in the Parwal.
  • Finally, garnish with either Dry Fruits or Tutti Frutti or Silver Leaf or Homemade Jelly (Recipe of Homemade Jelly coming soon).
Enjoy tasty Parwal ki Mithai!
